Former Olympian and world amateur star Andrew Selby will face undefeated Hungarian Jozsef Ajtai this Saturday night (November 14) in Bristol as part of the undercard to Nick Blackwell’s British middleweight title defence against Jack Arnfield, live on Channel 5.

In what constitutes an ambitious piece of matchmaking, Selby will face a man in Ajtai who has won all ten professional fights to date, six via knockout.

Nicknamed ‘The Brutal’, Ajtai comes to Bristol with a reputation for heavy hands and an aggressive style, and boasts three straight stoppage wins to his name, all achieved within just three rounds. He is also the current Hungarian light-flyweight champion.

Selby, meanwhile, got his professional career off to a flying start on October 30 with a fourth-round stoppage win over Haji Juma.

Intent on becoming a world champion in 2016, the Welsh prodigy shows no signs of slowing or stepping down the level of competition, and looks to make yet another statement in staining the unbeaten record of Ajtai.

“Fair play to Andrew Selby,” said promoter Mick Hennessy. “Not only is he at eight-round level already, but he’s taking on an experienced and unbeaten fighter in just his second pro fight. Channel 5 viewers are in for a real treat.”
