Michael Hennessy Jr experienced a narrow loss in an 8-round war against Joe Laws at the iconic York Hall
The fight took place on the undercard of the British and Commonwealth Cruiserweight Championship between Mikael Lawal and Isaac Chamberlain.
Michael Hennessy Jr was originally scheduled to fight Harley Benn, until Benn withdrew from bout for reasons unknown. In stepped late replacement, Joe Laws, who on paper was a far more accomplished fighter and posed a much greater risk for Michael Hennessy Jr at such late notice.
But nonetheless, the two combined to create a back-and-forth war to entertain the York Hall audience. Joe Laws emerged the winner in a very closely contested bout – in which both contestants earned the respect of everyone in attendance.
