Dyah Davis is out to “win” the crowd over and show James DeGale MBE what it’s like to challenge a “world class” fighter at Glow, Bluewater on November 16th, live on Channel 5 from 10pm.
The tough American is determined on coming out victorious when he meets the 2008 Olympic champion for the WBC Silver super middleweight title and feels his performance and “domination” will have the British fans cheering his name.
“I most definitely want to show James what it’s like to be in the ring with a world class opponent,” Davis said.
“I love the British fight fans – I’m a nice gentleman outside of the ring, I carry myself well and I’m respectable and I think with my performance and domination I plan on winning the fans over.”
The man known as ‘Dangerous’ is the former NABF champion and son of 1976 Olympic champion Howard Davis Jr.
A man with world class pedigree coursing through his veins, who has blemished the records of undefeated fighters and traded leather with current WBC world super middleweight champion Sakio Bika.
But Davis feels he wasn’t at his best that night and believes this is his opportunity to get back to the highest level.
“I was in with Sakio when I wasn’t in the best of form, I had an undisclosed injury that I didn’t share with anybody, but I took that fight feeling it was a great opportunity,” Davis said.
“I was world ranked at number three and I went out there hoping to outclass my opponent and do well, but I re-aggravated the injury before I stepped out to the ring, so my confidence dropped.
“But that is all behind me now, I have James DeGale in front of me and I’m looking to capitalise on this opportunity and come out victorious.
“This is my opportunity to get back to world level, this is a big stage, I’m very excited and very anxious to take it.”
