Sam Eggington faced the undefeated knockout artist in Joe Pigford on the Lawrence Okolie vs Chris Billam-Smith undercard at the Vitality stadium in Bournemouth. But the quality and devastating punching power, belonged to Eggington as he ended the fight with a brutal fifth round stoppage.

Experts tabbed it to be the fight of the night, and Sam Eggington on his part certainly delivered. The fight began tentatively as both seemed cautious of each other’s power. But by the third round, the more experienced Eggington began finding the mark with his straight right.

The momentum followed into the fifth round when the same punch would again land flush on the chin. Eggington sensing his moment, zeroed in on the wobbly Pigford as a barrage of punches further rained down. Numerous heavy unanswered punches forced the referee to jump in.

Eggington, who only last October lost his IBO World Title, is now back to fine form once again. A tremendous win here will push him into more opportunities in the near future.
