Undisputed world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has been crowned ‘Fighter of the Year’ for 2015 by The Ring magazine, the world-renowned ‘Bible of Boxing’, following his stunning win against Wladimir Klitschko last November.

Thought to be the most prestigious award in world boxing, the announcement of Fury as ‘Fighter of the Year’ goes some way to again highlighting what a magnificent achievement it was to dethrone a champion dominant for over a decade.

In terms of British and Irish counterparts, only Ricky Hatton has won the same award

“I’m just ecstatic to be part of a very short ‘Fighter of the Year’ list from Great Britain and Ireland,” Fury told ringtv.com. “It’s like a VIP club and Ricky is a friend who is from the same part of town as me and that makes this all the more special.

“As far as I’m concerned, the RING ‘Fighter of the Year’ award is the biggest and best award in boxing.”

It doesn’t stop there for Fury, either. He also bagged The Ring magazine’s ‘Upset of the Year’ gong for his twelve-round decision win over Klitschko in Dusseldorf, Germany.
